It is much easier to escape mount when an opponent initially lands in the position than wait for them to fully secure it and begin working an escape then. When his opponent switches to the reverse side control, Braulio recognizes there is a good chance they wish to transition to mount. In preparation, he positions his legs so he can immediately attack an elbow escape after their transition.
